The apiary plays an important role in supporting pollinators across the estate while producing honey and helping connect people with the natural rhythms of the seasons.
The journey is only just beginning, but the hives are already becoming part of the story of Montfox.
Every hive tells a different story. These colonies are still in their early years, but already they are building comb, raising brood and establishing themselves on the estate.
The video above shows a glimpse of one of our queens, marked blue for identification. Spotting the queen is an important goal of every hive inspection.
While honey remains a future ambition, the hives are already playing a valuable role as pollinators on the farm, and bringing another layer of life to Montfox.
Over time, the aim is to expand the apiary and establish Fox & Hive as a recognised part of the Montfox estate.
Future plans may include additional hives, estate-produced honey and opportunities for visitors to learn more about beekeeping and pollinators.
As with the vineyard itself, the focus remains on learning, patience and allowing things to develop naturally.
